Chapter 6

Mason

My coffee had gone cold again for the third time this morning. It was a good thing as I had enough caffeine to fuel a jet engine to the moon.

“Your client has arrived,” Hunter buzzed through the intercom.

“Bring her up, please.”

I stood up from the desk and ran a hand down my suit, smoothing any wrinkles. Walking to the doorway, I met Hunter and my newest client, Bailey Kellerman.

Bailey was an up-and-coming pop star. Her newest album had hit the billboard charts and her single, “Take it Off,” played on every radio station, every hour of the day. Pre-teens were infatuated with her. Men were fascinated by her tall, lithe figure, long blond curly hair, and emerald green eyes. Her only problem was that she had a reputation for leaving a trail of broken hearts behind her wake. She couldn’t find her one true love.

I was hoping to change that for her.

“Bailey Kellerman,” I said, kissing her cheek. “So nice to finally meet you.”

“Same here,” Bailey said, her accent thick and southern.

“Isn’t she a gem?” Hunter complimented, as we all took seats around the conference table in my office.

“You are just as beautiful in person,” I said.

Bailey giggled. “Are you single, Mason?”

We all gave her quip a good laugh, but something made me think she may not have been kidding.

“Unfortunately, Mason is taken,” Hunter interjected. “Can I get you anything to drink before we start?”

“I’ll have a diet Coke,” she answered. “Twist of lime.”

Hunter went to fix her drink.

“We normally record our initial interviews with clients. Do you mind?” I asked, motioning to the video camera that was already set up.

She shook her head to consent.

“Okay, let’s get started.” I leaned forward, placing my elbows on the table. “So tell me, Bailey. We spoke a little on the phone about what you’re looking for. Remind me what that perfect guy looks like?”

Bailey tugged at her long braid that draped down her left shoulder. “I like them all,” she giggled.

“Any preference on race?” I asked.

“Not really.”

This was going to be a tough one.

“Height?”

Her eyes twinkled. “How tall are you, Mason?”

“Six-two.”

“I’m 5’11 so I do like a man that is a bit taller than me. Your height is perfect.”

Hunter came back with her drink and set it down in front of her. He winked at me.

“Any preference on hair or eye color?”

“Dark hair, blue eyes are nice,” she answered.

“So tall, dark, and handsome?” Hunter quipped.

“That’s a good start,” Bailey answered. She took her lime and squeezed it into the drink, taking a sip.

“You’ve dated mostly men that are in the entertainment industry,” I pointed out. “Are you open to someone that isn’t a musician or actor?”

Bailey laughed. “Given my rotten track record, I would say stay away from Hollywood types.” She chewed her bottom lip. “Maybe a successful businessman like yourself.”

I gave Bailey a smile. “Lucky for you, we have a lot of successful businessmen on our roster.”

A knock at the door interrupted our meeting. I clenched my jaw. Interruptions during client meetings were a no-no and Natalie knew this.
