We all come out of the club and watch as Bolt puts Rae’s stuff in the car.

"I can't believe he's not going to stop her?" Cas demands, the surprise in his voice evident.

The rest of the guys are watching on.

"He wants to. That's why he's not here," I add.

Ice is his own worst fucking enemy. Rae, she’s it for him. No other woman could handle our VP. We are all a little in love with her, not the way he is, but she stole all our dark hearts.

The roar of the pipes announces they are leaving. "Come on. We need to find him."

Sketch watches the car before nodding. "Where is he?"

"Lakes." Rev's voice surprises me.

We all climb on our bikes, ripping up the road. As we pull into the turning of the lakes, we see him there, sitting on the bench, head in his hands.

He lifts his head, eyes flicking to us, and he nods as if knowing she’s gone before returning to look at the lake. Yeah, that didn't look like someone happy his woman was driving across the country.

I grab a blunt out of my pocket, nodding to the others. We walk over to the bench, and I light up, waiting until he's ready.

"It drove me crazy every day without her, and I feel even crazier now she’s back," he says, tossing a stone across the water. "Waiting for something to happen. I want to lock her fucking away from the world. It's fucked up," he growls, spinning to face us.

Well, shit, that's a turnaround. Ice never admits to shit. No matter if he's wrong or fucking right, you aren't getting him to admit it. I hand him the blunt. He takes it, pulling in a long drag before blowing it out through his nose and passing it along.

"Yeah, but that's you," Rev grunts, making our lips twitch.

"You are angry. Why? What's going on?" Sketch asks, taking the blunt, blowing the smoke out.

"It should have been me bearing those scars, not her. Never my girl. I need her to hate me because I can't deal with the forgiveness. I don't fucking deserve it."

He digs his fingers into his hair, and I know he's ready to let it all out.

"I never deserved her. And now she's fucking free to live her life and not get dragged down with my shit. For once in my fucking sorry life, I'm doing the right thing."

All our eyes widen as the truth spills from him. Shit, he really is sunk. We'd all seen it, but hearing it coming from him is something I don't think Ice even admitted to Rae.

"Look, man, we can drive up in a couple of weeks and see her. Things will have cooled down by then," Storm says.

"No, we let her go. I need to stay away from her. She's like a drug, and if I get even a glance at her, I'll want more. I won't be able to do it twice," he growls, fist clenching.
