Chapter 11

Axel

My back was a little sore from working out, but I pushed through to complete the workout. I wiped my brow and sipped on the protein shake as I walked into my office for a meeting with Turin. I lifted the folder from my desk and took a seat.

Turin checked his gun. “Are you sure you’re ready for today?”

I closed the folder. “I’m ready. I just need to shower.”

Turin nodded. “As your brother, I have to check.”

“Did you get Onyx for today?”

“He’s here.”

I placed the folder on the desk and headed for the shower.

Some of our soldiers were hand-picked to be on point when Gigi went to meet with Ginerva. They were the best trained assassins the cartel had.

The folder Turin obtained from surveillance showed Ginerva was in the club with Dario. On a couple of occasions, she’d also been there alone with a guard. She’d been here for months and had lied to Gigi. It would take more than killing her and Dario to make me feel whole again. I wanted to wipe out her entire bloodline in Italy.

Hugo had scheduled a meeting with the Irish today. I planned on crashing it to reinforce that the Carringtons owned the territory Hugo was trying to take. The Irish were only loyal to themselves, and Hugo would learn not to cross my wife or me again.

Once I was showered and dressed, I headed back to my office and grabbed two guns and some money from the safe. Gigi had an appointment with her doctor for an update and even if she wasn’t at the six-week mark, it was time to be with my wife.

Turin was waiting outside with the car.

“Hugo is to be left alive,” I stated.

“What if Dario is there?” Onyx asked.

“He won't step foot near the deal,” Turin explained.

Onyx frowned. “How can you be sure?”

“Ginerva,” I replied.

“He’s banking on Gigi seeing Ginerva, so he’ll lie low,” Turin explained.

“You two take the rear. Turin and I will be up front,” I instructed.

“I’ll drive,” Turin announced.

“What if the Irish get involved?” Onyx asked.

I shrugged. “Kill them.”

I walked to the Jeep and climbed in. Arriving in a limo would draw too much attention, and the Jeep had better maneuverability to get us out of a situation unharmed. It was bulletproof, so no more ambushes unless we were the ones doing them.

Turin drove for fifteen minutes in silence. The guys checked and rechecked their guns, and I blocked out everyone except Hugo’s face as my target. Finally, we approached the restaurant where Hugo was planning to meet with the Russians, and we climbed out and walked to the back door. It was opened by one of the servers Turin had paid off to get us inside.

“They just got here,” he said.

Turin handed him a thousand dollars. “You never saw us.”

“Saw who?” He grinned and ran out the door.

No one was back here, so we had a clear path of the hallway to the bathrooms. Onyx checked them, but they were empty. Turin followed behind him.
