CHAPTER 11

Abbic led us to a small rusty door that was built into the sewer tunnels and knelt down and started whispering something. I really hoped whatever she was doing wouldn’t take too long, the horrific smell of the sewage was overwhelming. I was starting to go lightheaded.

I hated the sound of the rushing sewages behind me and I just didn’t want to be in the sewers anymore. I wanted to be killing, attacking and making sure the enemy couldn’t never ever hurt me, the Rebels or Coleman again.

When I saw Abbic cock her head and frown, I just wanted to kick down the door but earlier Abbic had mentioned some nonsense about needing to show respect in this place.

Rubbish!

After a few more moments, Abbic gasped and the door opened slowly. The air stunk horribly of must, mummified flesh and dust, it smelt awful but at least it was better than breathing in raw sewage.

We went through the door and flaming torches turned on revealing a rather wonderful chamber. It was beautiful in a way, brown blood splashed up against the walls. Some walls were completely covered in blood. I was sure there were paintings, symbols or something else under the blood, but I wasn’t interested in that. Because in the very middle of the grand oval chamber was an immense corpse.

The dragon corpse stretched on for hundreds of metres, it was beautiful in a way. Even after so long the bright red scales were still shiny, vibrant and full of life. The only real way to tell it was an actual corpse was because of the missing eyes, tongue and missing belly, as no scales were there to protect the underbelly.

“Wow! This is awful!” Abbic shouted.

“Why? Look at all this blood, the artfulness in this blood spray is great,” I said.

“Sure girly,” Abbic said walking over to the dragon corpse.

As much as I wanted to explore the chamber and learn about what had happened here, I knew my beautiful sexy Coleman was probably fighting up on the surface. I had to finish this, get rid of the Hunters and go and help him. I owned him that much.

I went over to the corpse and stood in front of the head with Abbic. Even the head was beautiful and terrifying, each dagger-like tooth was twice the size of me and the head was probably ten metres tall.

“Ya know to find tha Rod?”

I took out the journal that included in the map and frowned as it had all been turned to mush by the sewage. I swore under my breath.

“The map reader said about the dragon’s resting place. A city of power and something about a rod of sacrifice,” I said.

“Tha City of Power must be tha City. Sacrifice?”

“What if the City of Power reference isn’t talking about a City as we know it. What other dragon stories do you know?”

Abbic shrugged and tapped the dragon teeth. Her hand shot back as the teeth cut her slightly.

“Come on, you must know some?” I asked.
