Part Three:

On life.

The day after Andrea died, I started keeping an online/Facebook diary of sorts. I titled it the same as the title of this book: Chronicles of a Reluctant Widower. I never intended to publish it as a collective, but many people — from my best friends to complete strangers — have encouraged me to do so after they said it really helped them through their tough times of bereavement.

Death has been with us since the beginning of time, but Covid has made bereavement a daily visitor to many, and if my words can help, then I’m happy.

What follows in this section is me going through my diary and combining a more-or-less chronological reportage of events combined with present-tense thoughts and observations. Writing these thoughts and observations down has been the healthiest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I really hope it can help someone else too.

However, because of the odd present/past tense nature of this section, it may not read as coherently as one would like.
