Behind the Main Hall is a rectangular rear courtyard ringed by two-story structures, a series of intimate spaces for family members generally, but especially women and children.
Viewed from the northeast corner of the Main Hall are large swinging lattice door panels that can be adjusted to let in whatever air and light are deemed necessary. Furniture is arranged in formal, quite symmetrical patterns.
As light changes throughout the day, patterns of different shapes appear on the white walls of the Main Hall.
