The Pirc Defense

This opening is a hypdermodern defense, which means that it does not attempt to control the center of the board early on. Rather, Black attempts to attack the center from the sides using minor pieces. Once the foundation has been set, he then tries to weaken the center control, which is usually owned by white. White has two main attacks to play against Black in the pirc defense.
