OUR GUILTY THOUGHTS CAN ATTACK OUR BODIES
When we neglect our bodies, when we fail to nurture them with daily exercise, healthy foods, rest, and relaxation, it is usually because we have negative thoughts about ourselves. These negative thoughts usually involve guilt and blame. There are times when because of our guilt we actually end up imprisoning ourselves in our bodies. Holding on to guilt can cause us to feel that we need to punish ourselves. Usually we do this without thinking, attacking ourselves as if our bodies had become our enemies, resulting in pain and illness.
We all carry mental images of ourselves in our minds. Sometimes these are positive images, but many times they may be negative ones. When these mental pictures are negative, framed with unforgiving thoughts, both mind and body can suffer. One of the effects that we frequently see when these negative images are maintained over a long period of time is backache.
