Everlasting blue of the sky.

Limitless wealth of the forest.

I write new signboard in my mind:

“Welcome to the mountain! Pick up anything you want! If you love mushrooms,

You are already a billionaire.”

Stinkbugs

1. Insects will conquer the human world soon.

—Right now many insects openly invade my house.

The first; Silverfish with white armor, thread-thin antennae.

These dwellers of bookcase slum

Nibble my books, great jewels of wisdom.

One by one, day and night.

2. Haiku poem by Issa:

“There must be parent and child like us In a school of running Silverfish.”

One morning I killed eight mercilessly.

A nightmare—Silverfish’s fertility in east Asia.

3. The second; Hitler bug or Yellow jacket.

High up on wall of my humble cottage These wasps built a castle—

Gorgeous, Renaissance style.

With horrible sharp spears

They threaten my honorable guests.

Someday, I’m afraid.

My free, healthy, peaceful, elegant life Might be destroyed by their merciless attack Like an unlucky beehive.

4. The third; Scot’s stinkbug, Monida scottiputon. Blood-thirsty forever.

They mercilessly suck oak trees’ sap;

The trees encircle and protect my house.

These chilly autumn days Looking for warm cozy life Stinkbugs sneak into the house.
