“So they trick your brain?” asked Pablo.

“Exactly!” replied Dr. Crisp. She gave Pablo a high five.

“We made rainbows with glass prisms at the art museum last weekend!” said Skylar.

“Yeah! When you shine light through a glass prism,” said Devin, “it bends and splits into different colors!” He made an arc over his head with his hands.

Violet didn’t have time for all this art talk. She looked at her watch. “Can we start making, please?”

Dr. Crisp reached into her backpack. She pulled out the Maker Manual and opened to a page with a picture of prism goggles and a list of instructions.

“This is pretty simple!” said Violet after reading the directions. “We just stick the plastic prisms onto the safety goggles.”

“But we need to make sure the ridges on each prism are facing in the same direction,” added Pablo, peering over Violet’s shoulder.

“Does it matter which direction?” asked Devin.

Violet checked the Maker Manual. “Nope!”

The Makers cut the plastic prisms so that they fit perfectly onto their goggles. Then they removed the sticky backing and pressed them onto the goggles’ lenses.
