Half an hour later, exhausted and mind whirling, Sadie, Ms. Beatrice and Gavin crowded into Sadieâs room to go over what sheâd found.
âYou are kind of messy,â Gavin said, nose scrunched as he sat in a chair by the window. He gestured at the bed. âCute pillow though. Why didnât I get one of those?â
Sadie picked up Flower and snuggled it against her chest.
âYouâre in Chefâs quarters,â Ms. Beatrice explained succinctly.
âSo get him a stuffed carrot or a pig or something,â Sadie suggested. Ms. Beatrice huffed.
Sadie had found a whole lot of nothing.
On the second floor, The McCoy sisters had left their planners in their room, and Sadie had thought sheâd found a jackpot, but aside from a bunch of canceled parties and a long list of retailers with their names methodically crossed out, she didnât find anything suspicious in them. Nothing as glaring as a list of enemies, at least. She wondered again what incident the sisters had been involved in. She wished her phone would work so she could Google it.
The lawyer Paul had left his room neat as a pin, his suitcase zipped up in the closet, his clothes neatly put away in drawers and the closet. Sadie hadnât found anything out of the ordinary in his room.
The Wards had more luggage than Sadie could sift through in five minutes and a taste for expensive skin products.
The film crewâs rooms were sparse, with equipment spread throughout them.
Theyâd obviously skipped Steffyâs suite, which was, in fact, across from Adamâs.
On the third floor, Amalia and Rosalie and their husbands had the two largest suites. Glenn took up the next largest, then the Bautistas, McCoys, and Titus each had a suite, each more spacious than the second floor, where theyâd crowded in eight total rooms instead of six.
Titus had boxes of Glamarosa product piled in his room, along with painstakingly accessorized outfits arranged in the closet. His ironing board, iron, and steamer had all recently been used. His wallet had been left in the pocket of his jacket, and the license inside stated his real name was Derrick Ross and he was from Kansas. Titus was definitely a cooler name.
The Bautistaâs room was a mess, with clothes on the floor and the bed ripped apart. A bottle of melatonin gummies for sleeping were on the bedside table, but again, Sadie found nothing out of the normal. They seemed like a couple that didnât get away from their kids often and were enjoying their adult-only giveaway.
Sadie had found nothing out of the obvious in any of the Valentines, rooms, either. Though she had found it interesting there were two beds in Rosalie and Freddyâs suite, both of them having been slept in. Maybe one of them was just a restless sleeper, though. A C-PAP machine had been on one bedside table in Amalia and Jonathanâs suite, and Sadie wondered which one used it. Would their partner notice if someone snuck out in the night while they were wearing one? Sadie wondered about Glenn.
