THE EVENING HAD BEGUN to settle over Sinking Springs as Lucas returned to The Wandering Page to report back to Amelia. The bookstore, a haven of knowledge and quietude, felt like the eye of the storm that was brewing around them. Amelia waited anxiously, her mind filled with scenarios and possibilities.

Lucas entered, a serious expression etched on his face. "I followed Max," he began. "He met up with the woman, Rhonda, in the woods near Warren's cabin, just like Tom."

Amelia leaned forward, her attention fixated on Lucas's every word. "What did you hear? Did they say anything?"

Lucas nodded. "They were whispering, but I caught pieces of their conversation. They talked about a ritual and 'finishing what was started.' It sounded urgent, and there was a tension in the air that was almost tangible."

Amelia felt a chill run down her spine. The pieces were falling into place, but the picture they formed was more ominous than she had anticipated. A ritual in the woods, the secrecy, the urgency – it all pointed to something far more sinister than they had first imagined.

"We need to intercept their next meeting," Amelia said. "Whatever they're planning, it's connected to Warren's death, and it might be our only chance to uncover the truth."

Lucas agreed, his demeanor mirroring Amelia's determination. "We'll need to be careful. If they're involved in dark rituals, there's no telling what we might be walking into."

Amelia nodded, her mind already strategizing their next move. "We'll prepare. We can use some protective spells, just to be safe. And we'll need to be discreet. If they realize we're onto them, it could jeopardize everything."
