Chapter 14
âWhat are you doing today?â Michael asked the next morning. She was ready to leave for work. Her first class was at ten. It would take her almost an hour to drive around the lake and get to the RCMP facility.
âI may stay in bed all day today,â Cam responded.
âGood,â Michael said as she leaned down to plant a kiss on Camâs forehead. âWhen I get here tonight, Iâll look for you right here. It will save us a lot of time.â She smiled, slyly.
Michael waved as she hurried down the stairs. Cam heard the door close and a few minutes later heard the creak of the garage door and the Harley engine fire up. There was the sound of the garage door closing and the roar of the bike as Michael drove down the street.
Cam looked over at the clock. It was 9:08. It was a good thing Michael was working in Magog this week. If she were working in Montreal, sheâd have to leave an hour earlier.
How did Michael do that every day? Not that she was complaining, but if Michael were at her own house, sheâd be able to sleep until nine oâclock every day, maybe even nine-thirty. Michael swore that sheâd give up sleep and living near her work, if she could spend a few hours a night with Cam. Actually, Cam liked that, too. Luckily, Michael only taught Monday through Thursday and only had an early class on Tuesdays. So, when Michael arrived on Thursday night, Cam had her to herself until eight oâclock Monday morning. Michael stayed at her own house in Montreal on Monday nights, but drove back here on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
âOh, come on, Andrews,â she lectured herself, âYouâve got a job to do. Get your sorry ass out of bed.â
She threw off the covers and slid her legs over the side of the bed.
âOkay. Wake up. Take a shower and get dressed.â She pushed herself into the bathroom and turned the shower on. As soon as the temperature was right, she stepped inside.
âShit, Andrews,â she said as she started to lose her balance. She had to balance herself and put her hand on the wall. As the water cascaded over her, she though back to the beginning of the week.
âWhat are you doing?â she asked herself. You almost cheated on Michael Thursday night, and it was only a kid. I seriously doubt she is twenty-three, probably not even twenty-one. Youâve never worried about the people who got arrested because of you. Why is Laurie different? Because I was tempted? No, it never stopped me before. Of course, that was before she and Michael had taken their relationship to the next level.
She reached for the shampoo and started lathering.
Come on Andrews. Get over it. Sheâs a young druggieâ¦but it will ruin her life. No young kid should start her life in jail. Maybe I can steer her away when I know a bust is going to go down.
Cam continued with her shower, turning the heat up on the water.
