Staring at the glowing screen of his laptop, he watched the slightly jerky feed from the spy camera he’d placed in the front room of Cerise’s flat. Her internet wasn’t the fastest in the world, and streaming video and audio over it while she was trying to use her PC was causing a few issues, but he got the gist of what was going on as she spoke to someone called Riddle about the meeting Carmine had been to.

He smiled until he spotted her noticing some out-of-place items on one of her shelves. He cursed his foolishness. He should have been more careful and not hunted around her home quite so much. Would she realise that someone had broken in?

He hoped not.

He watched her move away from the shelf to focus on the call. Breathing a sigh of relief, he relaxed again. He should have done this months ago, he surmised, smiling at the screen as she finally hung up.

She didn’t look happy, but that was to be expected.

Maybe he could be a shoulder for her to cry on?

Maybe that was his way in? Either way, he’d have fun watching her tonight.
