Cesar: The sun changes the color! The beads didn’t change in the oil!

Luis: Yeah, the sun produces energy, and energy changes the color.

Sharon: What is this energy that the sun produces?

Luis and Cesar: Computers and flowers use energy. The energy is from the sun.

Luis: Energy flows to us. It’s like electricity.

Sharon: So the sun has electricity?

Cesar: It’s like fire!

Sharon: How is the sun like fire?

Cesar: They are both light and hot.

Sharon: Would the beads change if they were in front of a fire?

Cesar: No. It needs solar.

Excited, Cesar now wants to pursue a new question: Will the beads change color in front of a fire or a heater? Sharon is pleased that the boys are continuing the inquiry cycle by asking new questions and testing them out on their own.
