The young Berkshire is a naughty pig with a lively character. Its back is long and level, and it has a high-set tail with well-sprung ribs. Hams should be wide and deep. The head is fine and wide, with a dished face and medium-length nose. It has fine, sloping shoulders. The legs are straight, strong, and wide apart, and the Berkshire is well up on its toes, enabling it to walk well. The body is black, with some white on the face, feet, and tail tip.
