Upon returning to his room, Kemp settled onto his bed, causing his pack to tumble to the floor with a metallic clatter. Intrigued by the sound, Thraxos halted his departure and turned to face the room, his keen eyes narrowing.

Leaning forward, Kemp retrieved the broken crown that had caused the commotion, lifting it up before him. Once again, he found himself entranced by the intricate markings adorning its surface. The engravings seemed to writhe and shift under his gaze, as if alive with secrets long forgotten.

Thraxos approached cautiously, his expression wary. “This is no ordinary artifact,” he murmured, his voice tinged with apprehension. “It holds great power but also great danger.”

As Kemp studied the crown intently, his mind raced with possibilities. Initially, when he first laid eyes on the crown, he felt no magical energy emanating from it. Yet now, a shift had occurred; he could sense the latent potential within it, vast reservoirs of magic waiting to be harnessed. A surge of anticipation coursed through him, tingling in his veins like dormant power awakening. His shadow hand twitched involuntarily, a reflexive response to the magic’s call, and Kemp had to exert mental restraint to prevent it from reaching out toward the crown.

“Where did you get this from, Kemp?” Thraxos asked, his eyes darting to Kemp’s shadow hand as he watched him struggle to restrain it.

Kemp recounted how he had found the crown in Nergai’s tomb shortly before being knocked unconscious and awakening here in Nexus. The memory of the tomb’s oppressive darkness and the eerie silence that followed still sent shivers down his spine.

Thraxos nodded, his gaze never leaving the crown. “Kemp, may I take this and study it for a while?” he asked, his voice a mixture of curiosity and caution.

Kemp reluctantly agreed, his hand still twitching to reach for the crown. He handed it over, feeling a strange sense of loss as Thraxos took it. The Minotaur’s large, capable hands carefully cradled the artifact, his eyes narrowing in concentration.

“Kemp,” Thraxos said, his tone more serious than ever, “this crown is ancient, and its power is not to be trifled with. We must understand it fully before even considering its use. You’ve done well to bring it here, but now we must be patient.”

Kemp nodded, his mind still buzzing with the possibilities the crown represented. As Thraxos turned to leave, Kemp felt a surge of determination. He knew that whatever secrets the crown held, he would unlock them. This was just the beginning.

Thraxos paused at the door, glancing back one last time. “Rest tonight, Kemp. Tomorrow, we begin anew. There is much to learn, and the path ahead is fraught with peril. But together, we will uncover the truth of this artifact.”

With that, Thraxos left, leaving Kemp alone with his thoughts. The room seemed to hum with the echoes of untold stories, and Kemp knew that his journey was far from over. The crown was a key, a gateway to untold power, and he was determined to unlock its secrets, no matter the cost.
