CHAPTER 11

Kiss and Tell

Certain people have demanded this chapter more than others. Personally, I don’t really feel like a few ex-lovers deserve to share my spotlight, but the argument has been made that revealing information about my relationships does, in fact, shed more light onto the inner workings of me. Which is, I guess, what I’m trying to do here.

So far, my book has been about all my fucking with reckless abandon, but on a few occasions, I did try to settle down. I told you earlier that, as someone who’d been practically raised human, I had some romanticized ideas about certain things. My virginity had been one. Another had been the fact that someday I’d end up finding the man of my dreams and settling down for a happily ever after.

The virgin myth had been destroyed by my encounter with Rich and then Jerry. I started doubting the truth of a happily-ever-after not long after arriving in Hell and observing my mentor. Nefertiti wasn’t married, and as far as I could tell, she didn’t love. She had a harem of lovers, acquaintances and friends that went back centuries, but no single special person.

It led to me asking her, “Have you ever been in love?”

Her reply? “Love is a weakness that enemies can exploit.” A cold answer from a proud and calculating sorceress. I should have expected as much.

Still, she couldn’t be immune from emotions. “You didn’t answer the question.”

“Once. A long time ago. There was a man. A fine man who wanted to make me his wife and have babies with me.”

“What happened?”

“I chose power and eternity instead of a mediocre existence.”

“Do you ever regret that choice?”

“Regret accomplishes nothing.”

A non-answer that kind of said it all.

As a succubus, was I doomed to never fall in love? Lust was easy. But once you wiped the cum off your cooch and pulled back on the G-string, what was left? Conversation? Most of mine went along the lines of “I want to fuck you.” “I need you to fuck me.” “Bend over.” “Put a finger in my ass.”

The few times I attempted to actually have a conversation even about the weather it got turned to sex. “You can rain on me any day, baby.” “Blow me like a hurricane.”

Love was a crock of shit.

I was in this headspace when I met Chris. No, not my brother Chris, ew. I’m talking about the Chris who was friends with Auric, but I can see the confusion. For that reason specifically, I called him Archie—as he was an arch mage—and will do so for the remainder of my book.

My thing with Archie started with another mission from my father.

“I need you to go check on Muriel,” Lucifer told me with impatience in his voice. I knew better than to ask for more details on specifically what was wrong.

“On it,” I said. I never hesitated to help my lamb.

“You need to fuck the three men hanging around her,” he added. “She’ll lose all intertest in them if they’ve had a dip in your cooch.
