Chimney Swift

Chimney Swifts nest in chimneys, hence their common name. They build their nests with small sticks and attach them to a chimney’s interior wall. Interestingly, they use their saliva to glue the nest to the wall and keep the nest together. The parents fly down to the nest, but they must use their special sharp claws to scale the chimney when it comes time to leave. Before chimneys were prevalent, these birds nested in hollow trees.
