Chapter Eleven

Ace

As I watched TV, I mulled over my thoughts of Wyatt. I found him confusing sometimes. When he’d first broached the subject of helping me have a baby, he’d been very resolute about not wanting a relationship, and not having anything to do with the baby once it arrived. He’d made it clear he’d be the sperm donor, and nothing more.

But that wasn’t how he acted. He seemed much more personally invested in me than I’d have thought he would be. Even tonight, he’d been so warm and affectionate, I sometimes had to remind myself we weren’t actually dating like any normal couple. I’d have been over the moon happy if he wanted to have something more with me, but he’d told me he didn’t. I had little choice other than to take him at his word. That was the best way to avoid getting my heart broken.

I closed my eyes and shivered with pleasure remembering him inside of me. I’d never felt so fulfilled and satiated as after sex with Wyatt. The feelings I’d already had for him were ten times stronger now that he’d claimed my body. It was odd because I’d slept with other alphas before, and while I’d enjoyed the experience, my time in the pool with Wyatt had felt life altering. And not just because I might be pregnant either. I had real feelings for him. Every time I saw him, my emotions grew stronger, and it made me more uncertain of what to do about that.

When Wyatt came downstairs, my stomach somersaulted at how sexy he looked in a dark shirt and jeans. He sat beside me and I flicked off the TV.

I studied him for a few moments in silence, and then said, “I’m curious about you.” I folded my legs underneath me. “I don’t know a lot about you.”

He turned toward me. “Ask me anything.”

“Anything?”

He scrunched his face. “I can’t think of anything I’m not willing to tell you.”

I rubbed my hands together. “Oh, boy.”

He laughed. “Be gentle.”

“I’ll try.” I tapped my chin. “I know you’re obviously wealthy, but what exactly do you do?”

A slow smile spread across his face. “Take a guess. What do you think I do?”

“Hmmm. Stockbroker?”

He laughed. “Nope.”

“You didn’t inherit your money…” I frowned.

“How do you know that?”

“Because you said you made your money, it didn’t make you or something. If you’d inherited it, you probably wouldn’t have phrased it that way.”

“Your detective skills are wasted at the clinic. You’re correct, I didn’t inherit my money.”

“Are you in oil or diamonds?” I grinned. “You don’t wear much jewelry, so I don’t really think the diamond thing works. But you could be an oil baron.”

He lowered his head. “I’m neither of those things.”

“Am I at least warm?”

“Not at all.” He grinned.

I laughed. “Damn. I give up. What do you do?”

He studied me, and then he said, “I’m the CEO of a shoe company.”

I bugged my eyes. “What the hell?”

He barked a laugh. “Is that too off the wall?”

“What kind of shoes?” I smiled, glancing at his bare feet.
