and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Have you ever pulled out the Christmas lights and wrestled with them until you would rather toss them than untangle them?

I love how today’s scripture says for us to not be entangled in the yoke of bondage. The bondage referred to here is sin. Over twenty years ago God called me out of apathy, loneliness, suicidal depression, new-age beliefs, smoking, and wondering what meaning there was to life. I am so grateful I was freed from being entangled in all those sad things.

Many people believe that coming to Christ means having to let go of the things they like to do. But I can tell you this: I’ve never missed a day of loneliness or depression or any part of the life I had. What I’ve gained in Christ far surpasses it all. There is absolutely nothing about your old life that you will ever care about losing.

Untangling a string of Christmas lights seems minor compared to untangling the messes we find ourselves in. God can take whatever mess you’re in and set you on a path that is straight and sure.

Beatitude Check

Have you been freed from the sins that entangle you? Perhaps you’re a believer but have gone back to your old ways. Today’s the day to get back on track. There is nothing to gain by living in sin. It will rob you of the riches God has prepared for you.
