24. A New Empire’s Potential

It was a sunny day when Jay left the meeting with Mike and Lilith. The temperature felt a little cooler than usual for Central Florida, too.

Brit, Casey, and Dennis were going to have a beautiful day for conquering. In the meantime, everyone was going to have to readjust to the new branch positions. The Protectorates were looking like a more functionary government now.

[1] Jay as Commander had War Chair Frank, Magic Chair Mike, and Death Chair Lilith under him.

[2] Hailey as Chancellor had Loot Chair Tim, Craft Chair Macy, and Crime Chair Rick under her.

[3] Brit as Counselor had Justice Chair Emily, Hero Chair Dennis, and Public Chair Fuzzy under her.

Fuzzy gained a promotion to be the Public Chair since she was good with handling people and monsters. Casey was updated to 1st Helper Chair while Cutie became 2nd Helper Chair, and Gatanna became 3rd Helper Chair. They had nobody truly above them (government wise) other than Patheon Leader Kleo and the Pantheon Matriarch.

Casey, Cutie, and Gatanna were free governmental agents outside of acting under the orders of their masters/mistresses. They could help in any of the branches or work on private projects for the leader and/or matriarch. Truthfully, any position could help any branch, but the Protectorates were moving in a direction of establishing a more orderly process.

Jay still had his secondary role as Vice-Chair, the second to take the seat of Pantheon Leader if anything befell Kleo. Hailey remained Secretary. And Brit as High Priestess was going to push the faith angle hard now. She had two Titles and a lot of power to support her crusader motivations.

Right now, Frank was helping Brit set up for today’s launch to start their conquest of the Caribbean. Jay could help as well, but he needed some time to think over everything. He was feeling twitchy, nervous, and scared. Being around Mike and Lilith helped siphon his manic energy.

“I’m glad you didn’t order Kleo to agree with you,” Mike said before they reached the R&D facilities.

“That would be screwed up,” Jay muttered with no more to add.

Lilith hummed merrily as she frolicked from one side of Jay to the other as they entered through the front doors.

The air shimmered with active wards. Dimensional and spatial magic made Jay’s gravity powers feel funky as they passed through security doors guarded by a mix of Soldiers and Agents. They stopped to get checked by the guards, which everyone– including YoAnna– went through, before entering the chambers of Miraculous Magic Science.

Once they passed the guard checking section, and were reconfirmed by magic scans and incantations that they were indeed who they said they were, they passed through heavy doors and walked through a spacious facility filled with magic automatons working on various projects. Groups of magic automatons would be assigned to a human or monster assistant chosen to aid the R&D leadership.

It was like looking at an enormous factory line that sorted through loot, manufactured consumable items, and ensured gear maintenance for the Protectorates.
