Two hours later

Carlo, Sonny, and I pulled up to the ACE Hotel. We received word that Niccolo was staying here while he’s in town. I checked my chamber and pulled out my black gloves and turned my phone off. We stepped out of the car and followed behind an older couple walking inside. Carlo had the room number, so we headed toward the elevator in the corner and hopped on. A young woman attempted to step on, and I called out it was full. Carlo hit the button for the tenth floor, and it started up playing the old sounds of Frank Sinatra.

“Are you sure about this?” Carlo asked.

“It has to be done,” I answered, checking the time on my watch right as the elevator dinged that we arrived.

“Sonny, you stay back. He’s more likely not to hesitate to open the door if it’s Carlo and me.” I started knocking on the door. A second later the lock turned and the door opened, a half-naked woman opened the door wearing only a t-shirt and panties. We walked inside and noticed two more girls on the floor making out, and Niccolo snorting cocaine next to them.

I walked over to the speaker on the wall and turned the music down.

“Did I miss the invite?” I questioned.

Niccolo grinned and stood up, heading toward me.

“Cousin, good to see you again. Come in and have a drink with me.” Niccolo suggested, stumbling to the bar. I bent down near the girls making out.

“Ladies, the party’s over. He can escort you out ,” I commanded.

Carlo waved for them to head out the door, wearing only what they had on.

“Hey, WTF! I haven’t had a chance to smash the brunette yet ,” Niccolo shouted.

“You’ve had enough, Niccolo. Sober up and take a seat.” He glared and took the shot of Hennessey then sat down on the couch.

“What have you been up to, Niccolo?” I asked. He dozed off, and I smacked him across the face gently.

“Focus, Niccolo.” I snapped my fingers in his face. Plucking up the surrounding trash, I looked around the room at the mess. He groaned, holding his face, and woke back up.

“What are you talking about, Antonio?”

“I'm hearing you’ve been talking to some people that you shouldn’t be, is that true?”

He shrugged his shoulders.

“You need to do better than that.”

“Who sent you?” Niccolo queried, trying to stand up, and I pushed him back down on the couch, pulling my gun out.

“It doesn’t matter. The real question is, what are you doing spending all of this money, knowing it can be linked back to the family ?” I asked, releasing the safety on my gun.

Niccolo raised his hands in surrender.

“Please, Antonio, don’t do this; I’m family, and you see I wouldn’t do anything to hurt the family ,” Niccolo pleaded.

“What I notice is that we have seen you around with an FBI agent and possibly trying to double-cross the family.”

“I’m sorry! I’ll go back to Italy, you won’t hear from me again, I promise.”

I looked over at Carlos, and he nodded to go ahead.
