Tyson couldn't stand still in the open -- against the Hunter that would mean death. The creatures in the pool were stirring. Were they working together? The Hunter certainly seemed to be corrupted, or at least well on the way there. Tyson had the monster seed to protect him, Hana had thought that the gifts Vix had otherwise gifted him weren't enough, and unfortunately it seemed she was correct.
Darting behind a column gave Tyson time to pull out another haste potion and chug it down. While he wasn't sure how long it had been, slowing down at the wrong moment right now would get him killed. Overdosing was supposed to have its own issues after a time: muscle spasms, distorted perceptions, intense nausea. That could get him killed too, but the side effects, if they kicked in, would at least take a while. Those arrows were an immediate threat.
For the moment Tyson needed a quick mind more than a quick body. He was always a planner, and this situation had taken him by surprise. He'd hoped to find some sort of demon in torpor that he could murder in its sleep. Instead, he had three enemies very much alert, and they all had to die.
The Hunter was the most immediate threat, but ultimately the least dangerous. He wanted Tyson dead and had the skills do it. That didn't mean that he wasn't a threat, but if the monsters in that pool came fully awake, they'd be a hell of a lot harder to put down.
The Hunter wasn't in any sort of armor, although his clothing might be enchanted. Tyson doubted it though, if he'd been offered the same choices of equipment Tyson had been, he'd probably invested everything in his weapon. The Hunter took his prey by surprise; he was there to end things in one shot, not brawl it out.
That meant the bow was dangerous. An arrow had nicked him and Tyson felt it, but not anything else. No poison, no other debilitating effects. Perhaps they were armor piercing? If so, his defense of being mobile just happened to be the best defense against it.
Tyson peeked out from behind the column. No sign of the Hunter. He'd already moved and was likely already repositioning himself. Tyson did the same, the world a blur as he relocated himself behind a wall, crouched low.
The next time The Hunter showed himself, the trick would be to close on him fast. Deny him range, take full advantage of boosted speed to stab and stab and stab until he was very dead. The trick would be not dying from an arrow he wouldn't see coming.
Was there another way to kill him? The corruption had obviously deeply infected him. Killing off the Gibaxxai would probably kill him. Did he have the least idea how to do that?
Sort of. The monster seed inside of him could do it, but from all that Hana had told him, for him, it wasn't so much a power set itself as it helped to shape his other abilities.
