Harlee woke on cot or bunk in a small gray room. As she looked around, she saw a couple of other women sitting on bunks like hers. Two others were lying in theirs and appeared to be sleeping. This could not be good. The room reminded her of a jail cell---but there was no reason for her to be in jail. She had done nothing wrong. The last thing she remembered was working out at the hotel gym. She sat up slowly and realized she was still wearing her workout clothes.

She looked up at the woman sitting on the bunk across from her. "Do you know where we are?"

"Jail?" She shrugged.

"But why? I haven't done anything to be put in jail. Have you?"

"I don't think so. I was a little drunk when I left the restaurant, so I called a cab. Last I remember was waiting for it in front of the restaurant. Then I woke up here just a few minutes before you."

"I don't think this is jail," Harlee said. "You don't just be doing your thing one minute and wake up in jail the next unless you're blitzed. I was stone cold sober. You get read your rights, photographed, and booked. This is some kind of holding cell, but I don't think its local jail."

"I tried the door. There's no way to open it from this side. We have a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower," the woman said.

"Do you know how long we have been here?" Harlee asked.

"Not really. It was about midnight when I left the restaurant. My watch says seven a.m. it might be right."

"Well, we can't get out the door, and there are no windows and no intercom, so I guess we're stuck here until someone decides to enlighten us at least. My name is Harlee Wyatt by the way."

"Kelly Richards. This is crazy. I'm nobody... just a cashier at the SureFine. I've never been in any trouble."

"I'm the evening clerk at the Green Roof Inn. This is all very strange,” said Harlee. “I feel like I've been kidnapped, but I can't figure out why? I don't come from money. I don't work for the government. I don't get it.”

“You're female, young and attractive---we all are.”

“Oh, god! You don't think they took us for human trafficking?” Harlee gasped, clearly horrified.

“We don't know anything yet,” Kelly said calmly. “No use panicking when we can't do anything about our situation.”

“Because we don't even know what the situation is.”

Suddenly, the door to their cell slid open. Both Harlee and Kelly were shocked at the man standing in the opening. He was a few inches over six feet with long, light blue hair with several braids interspersed with his free-flowing hair, and a blue Fu Manchu mustache. He wore an unremarkable tan short sleeve t-shirt and brown pants and brown boots. There was a large knife strapped to his belt. But it was stark yellow cat's eyes that clued them he was not quite human.

“Females, no hurt. I---Captain Frazon Mezra.
