Christina stumbled into her apartment and went straight towards the kitchen. She slammed the doors of the cupboard, not really sure what she was looking for. An old bottle of scotch caught her eyes and she was almost tempted to take a swig or two! She had started to reach for the bottle and then she remembered that she didn’t have the luxury to drink alcohol, at least not right now. She had a baby to think about! It had been a mistake! Diana had been right! Lines had become crossed and she had been a fool to think that they could be together in that powerful way and then she would just walk away and that would be it. The lovemaking had been out of this world; the climax wrenching, and whenever he was finished she wanted him to continue. It had not been like before where she was experimenting and had done so out of curiosity; it had been much more than that. What was even worse was the fact that she enjoyed his company, enjoyed picking his very smart brain and had enjoyed the conversations with him. Now it was all over! Her breath hitched inside her chest as she settled for tea. She knew she would not be able to sleep tonight. She had gone to his place with the intention of spending the night, losing herself in that strong lean body and now she was back at her tiny place which looked even smaller than before. She turned the flame on and went to sit at the dining table, propping her chin onto her hand. Maybe it was for the best. She had told Kelly that she would think about her offer and get back to her, but she had made up her mind. She would tell Eddie that she was leaving after giving him a week’s notice and she would pour everything she had into managing the place. She would be so filled with work that she would have no time to think about him. Whenever they met up at the doctor’s she would be polite and cool, exchanging conversation only when necessary and then she would be on her way.

The car! Her eyes flew open. She would have to give it back to him. No! She shook her head decisively. It had been a gift and besides, he had taken away hers and she had no idea what he had done with it. She was keeping the very nice car because she was not an idiot. If he wanted it back, he would have to come right out and said that to her. But deep down she knew he was not that type of person. “Oh Aaron!” she whispered achingly. “If only things were different. How am I going to see you and pretend that there had never been anything between us?” She got to her feet to turn off the fire under the kettle, realizing that she did not want anything after
