The vested remainder subject to open and the contingent remainder.

Step Three: Apply the RAP.

The vested remainder subject to open is valid because the class will close instantaneously at A’s death. At A’s death, the remainder to A's children will then become a vested present estate or the remainder might not ever become possessory because A may die without any children living. But neither possibility violates RAP. The key is that there is no possibility of “remote vesting” beyond the period allowed by the RAP.
