Chapter 11

Tix lived on a large estate. He had guards at the front gate of his house, and I was sure he had more inside. Red and I had never taken our security measures to this level, but Tix’s company did a lot more hexing than ours did.

You made a lot of enemies in the hexing business. I understood Tix’s caution. We didn’t talk much on the ride over. Heck, we’d never talked to each other, anyway. This wasn’t much different.

For my part, I was lost in thought. Theo needed to be dealt with. But he had so many wreckers around him. It was hard to get close.

“You’re not sleeping tonight,” Tix said in that husky voice of his.

My eyes became hooded. I reached over and touched his leg. He’d touched me earlier so... I imagined those mountain-sized arms wrapped around me, holding me down.

I moistened my lips. I wanted to lick him from the neck on down. I wanted his mouth on me. I caressed his leg. He inhaled sharply, making me bolder.

I moved my hand lower. His cock was huge, hard, and thick. I unzipped his pants. I didn’t mind getting my mouth dirty right here in the driveway.

“We’re going to train,” he said, causing me to snatch my hand back. What a way to dampen the mood. “You won’t gain your wrecker strength back in one day. It’ll take some time. Why you let it slip in the first place, well that’s a different story.”

Now I was just irritated. “You’re not letting this go?”

He parked the car and shut off the engine. “You could have laid Theo and his crew to the ground with one rumble had you never abandoned your powers. You would’ve died tonight if I hadn’t shown up.”

He hopped out of the car. “You should want to do better.”

I got out too. I went to stand in front of him. I got enough backlash from my parents about my wrecker powers. I couldn’t handle it from Tix too. “I don’t need you chastising me. My reasons are my own.”

“Not when it affects my life,” he shot back, walking up the million steps leading to his front door.

Guilt slammed into my chest. He was right. Those guys had kidnapped and tortured him because they had a problem with a hex I’d created.

For him to be hurt by something I no longer believed in... It must’ve looked like I’d turned my nose up at my wrecker powers.

“Okay,” I relented. “We’ll practice tonight. What kind of techniques do you have?” I ran a hand through my hair. Something uncomfortable settled in my gut. I never thought I’d go full force on my wrecker powers again, but I had to stop Theo. I wouldn’t have him hurting those I loved.

Tix watched me closely. “Don’t you have your own training techniques?” He punched in a code to open his front door.

This dude. Really? “Can you share?” I asked him.

He paused at the entrance, a look of disbelief on his face.
