Helena:
After we ate breakfast, we moved separately to get ready for the day. I dressed comfortably, but put a silk scarf on to make it look a bit fancier. I knew it was going to be difficult, because we needed to figure out a plan of attack and a way to get Bob back and I wanted to have all the confidence I could get. First of all, we needed to know where he was being held, and that question was up in the air, at present. It made me nervous, but I felt confident that with Gil and Audrey as well as Jeffrey and Christy, we were good to go. My worry was what the evil force was doing to or planning for Bob, but also for me.
When I got downstairs Audrey was already sitting on the couch waiting for me. âAre you ready to go?â She looked up at me as if she wasnât sure where she was, then she nodded and stood. She was a bit shaky, so I pushed her back down to the couch. âWhatâs going on with you?â
Audrey stared across the room. She seemed to be trying to get control of something going on in her head. When she looked back at me, her eyes were clouded and she still wasnât herself. âAudrey, stay there. Iâm calling Gil.â
I moved away from the couch, but she didnât move at all. I punched in his cell number and waited.
âDetective Bueno.â
âOh, thank the Universe. Can you get over here right away? Something is wrong with Audrey. I donât know how to help her. No, I have no idea what is happening with her. We were getting ready to go to the hospital. I came downstairs, and she was sitting on the couch waiting for me. She doesnât seem herself, like she was earlier when we ate breakfast. I donât know what happened.â I listened to his instructions. âGood, Iâll see you in a few.â I sat on the chair across from her and waited for Gil.
When the doorbell rang and I opened the door he barged in like an elephant and ran straight to Audrey. He kneeled in front of her and put both hands on the sides of her head and directed her to look at him. Leaning in close to her right ear, he whispered something in Spanish that I couldnât hear. She pulled her head away from him immediately, but held onto his hands as if it was the only way to hold herself together. I watched in awe as her eyes cleared and she shook her head.
Gil leaned back on his heels and released the breath heâd been holding. âWhat did you think you were doing? That was insane. Your guardians can go into places like that, but you canât and if you keep doing this, one day I wonât be able to pull you back.â
Audrey held her hands in her lap. âI just thought Iâd get a quick look, but it was no use.
