“Seven o’clock?” he called from the head of the stairs.

“I’ll be ready.” I watched as he disappeared down the stairs, then went back into my condo and did a happy dance through the living room and into the kitchen. I had a date with a sweet, sexy guy tomorrow night at seven. Yes!

Dinner the next night was perfect. The setting was intimate, and the mellow jazz combo in the cocktail lounge provided a perfect backdrop to our candlelit meal of rib-eyes and cabernet. All the schoolboy awkwardness of the previous evening had disappeared as our wide-ranging conversation revealed similar interests in travel, sports, food and books.
