Cook Systems is another IT staffing company that has launched its own bootcamp program. Founder Wayne Cook had previously been CIO at a bank and had run a successful hardware training program for new hires. He thought such a model could work for his new company.

Cook’s last-mile training program is called FastTrack’D. It’s a free eight-week program for Java and .Net software development. Like Revature, FastTrack’D provides students with a place to live while they’re learning. Cook has run FastTrack’D programs in Memphis, Dallas, Atlanta, and Jacksonville. While Cook doesn’t guarantee jobs to those who complete the training program, the company has hired 85 percent of all graduates. COO Brad Weeks reports hundreds of graduates, with over 90 percent completing their contract with Cook and moving on to the client or other coding positions.

Unlike Revature, Cook’s program doesn’t require prior coding experience. Candidates must only demonstrate aptitude. Cook also doesn’t require that candidates have degrees. Weeks estimates that nearly half of FastTrack’D students have entered without college degrees.
