Chapter 18

Hal Hammond and all the boys of the group had left quite an impression on the folks of southwestern Virginia. The Virginia ladies had fallen in love with them all. The old men out of the coal mines would never forget the wonderful memorial party for Annsetta, and the way Hal had set up the suites and taken the entire top floor of The Hampton Inn and had all the wonderful games and foods and drinks, and on top of all that the popular and wonderful Rev. Johnson.

They were unanimous in their feeling about Hal, completely and unanimous, he was the perfect gentleman and he had taken care of the few remaining relatives of Annsetta and he had seen that her brother was wonderfully secure in his nursing home. The transference of the empty coal mines went smoothly and with no hitches. Hal had achieved his goal. Hal was very pleased with how everything had gone and he was highly impressed with all his boys as always and how well they had achieved the objectives.

The Bonnet Creek Python had done a great job of getting all the regular warehouses out from their leases and had done so with no suspicion and he had engineered the transition from all the warehouses to the empty coal mines and Mel had coordinated the trucking of the Puerto Vallarta Blue from all over Texas and Louisiana and Alabama and Florida and up into the empty coal mines of southwestern Virginia.

Hal was relieved and thrilled that one of his biggest jeopardies was no longer jeopardy at all. No more warehouses to worry about, none and all his weed-medicine, his PVBlue was being safely and securely put into the empty coal mines that would not be empty ever again.

It was a great relief to Hal that Mel the finest dump truck driver in the Americas had seen it was all done perfectly and flawlessly and that, Chubs, the sleek Bonnet Creek Python had done what he has done so well for all his life, slid up and under the innocent prey in dead silence and struck out his head at laser speed and taken his prey in his deadly coil, his prey being the landlords all over Texas and Louisiana and Alabama and Florida, the landlords who owned all those warehouses.

The python squeezed and coiled the life out of them until at last they were gone and the leases and the landlords were gone and all paid in full and ended with no suspicion and never to be heard from again and no authorities had any suspicion nor a clue what the warehouses had been used for, not a clue. Now a new day was born to Hal and to the medicine enterprise, too and Hal was a delighted man.

The Net Jet sat with its engines purring smoothly and flawlessly on the little runway, the sunshine reflected off the top of the jet and a light wind crossed Pookey’s and Hal’s faces as they walked to the open door of the cabin.
