Joe couldn't stop thinking about the woman he met at the bookstore on the drive back home. As promised, the company helped him find a car he could make use of while attending to their business. He picked it up and headed straight to the meeting with the clients, mapping out ways through which they could finish the project on time. Since their office was on the other side of town, there was no way he could drive by without passing the book store. His curiosity had led him to visit the store to see if anything had changed. The old owner, Old Trent, was no longer here. Instead, he met a woman who looked familiar but hostile. His mind danced around a number of possibilities. Hard as he tried, he couldn't place a name on the face. He finally decided he would have to ask his landlady if she had any information about who she was.

By the time he got back to the house, the older woman was cooking something delicious. He could tell because the aroma filled the entire house. He greeted her, and she replied with a smile facing on her lips.

"Food will be ready soon," she announced. "Where have you been?"

"I had a couple of errands to run," he replied.

"Not to worry. I'll have your food brought up to your room," she told him as he walked up.

He flashed her a smile in return, and she went back to cooking whilst humming to herself. Joe had a bath and then had his meal. He nodded off while going through the reports he had done that morning. By the time he woke up, Margaret was in the living room with someone. He knew this because he heard their voices as they laughed out loud. He didn't want to bother the woman and her guest, but they said something that got his attention.

"Are you sure he's the one?" Margaret asked her guest.

"Unless there's someone else, I am very sure," a familiar voice answered.

Joe tried to place the voice quickly. He thought about it until he was sure it was the same voice from the bookstore. He grabbed his pajamas quickly and struggled into them. He was downstairs in a matter of seconds.

"And then, he..." the visitor stopped short when she realized he was in the room with them. Margaret turned towards him.

"You're up already?" she asked in a singsong manner. "Caroline was just asking after you."

Joe ignored her and moved closer to the lady.

"I know you," he said matter of fact. "I've met you before."

"Yeah," she replied with a long drawl on her words. "You were at my bookstore."

"The store is yours?" he asked. He didn't wait for her to answer, though. "I'm sorry, how did you know I was staying here? Are you stalking me?"

Caroline turned to Margaret. She looked shocked that he would accuse her in that manner.

"Did you hear him? Did you?!" she managed to tell the woman. "FYI, dear, I wasn't stalking you. Hell, I never wanted even to see you again.
