CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Margaret removed a cloth from a hanger. She spread the cloth in her suitcase. Ann walked in. Ann sat on the bed, with her legs crossed. She had done away with the wheelchair. She now used the aid of clutches to walk. She placed the clutches on the bed and held Margaret by her wrist. Margaret halted. She looked at Ann.

"Mitt told me you will be leaving Chelsea with us." Said Ann.

"Yes, that's true. I want Chelsea to stay back in Utah, with you and father." Now, Margaret was seated on the bed, beside Ann.

"Why are you not taking her back to New York with you?"

"It is dangerous to take her back with me to New York."

"Dangerous? How is it dangerous?"

"It is dangerous because Alex had stopped the mortgage payment on our home in New York and very soon, we will be evicted from the home. Unless, the payment is restored."

"How did you come about mortgage payment on your house? I thought you bought the house and made full payment, when did you start making mortgage payments on the house you fully owned?"

"We sold the house as well as other properties we owned in the country when we ventured into shell company business. We later reacquired our New York home on mortgage through our company, R&S holding. Technically, the house is not ours. It's the company's property. Since Alex has fraudulently pushed me out of the firm, the firm had stopped making Mortgage payment for that house. This makes me vulnerable to eviction from the house by the mortgage company."

"Oh. I get the full picture now. Where would you stay when evicted from that home?"

Margaret shook her head. "For now, I have no idea where to stay when evicted from that house. I sincerely do not know where to stay after eviction. But managing my homelessness is a lot easier than managing the homelessness of myself and Chelsea. That is the reason I want her to stay with you and Mitt."

"Is it not possible that your lawyer push back against any eviction that might be done by the mortgage company, pending the time the divorce is concluded?"

"I have not looked into the possibility of this with my lawyer. He, with his legal assistants, is working around the clock, so we can end up victorious on this issue. But I've heard a lot of stories about the difficulties in getting favorable judgment on divorce involving tax Haven investments. I really don't know what to believe."

"Have you talked with Chelsea about her staying with us?"

"No, I haven't. I was thinking of talking to her about that this evening."

"Why haven't you done that already?"

"I just feel it is unnecessary to tell her early. I want to leave it late."

"You should have told her by now. She has a say in this as well."

"She has no say in this, Ann. She has no bit of say. She has no choice but to accept this unfortunate decision. So, her opinion doesn't matter. There is nothing I can do about this unfortunate situation.
