Chapter 6 - The Universe Reveals Itself Silently

Readers of my books will know that I spent the first few decades of my life mired in fears and worries. I was always worried about money and walked around with that sick feeling in my gut. When things were going well, I was worried that they would go wrong. While everything appeared normal and well on the outside, my mind chatter was on overdrive on the inside. My mind was worked into a worrying frenzy! Does this sound familiar to you?

You can never “tell” someone’s inner state just by looking at them. But you can perceive their inner states if you come from a clear and neutral state yourself. Returning to that peaceful and balanced state which I emphasize so often is important because it allows us to be open to Universal inspiration and energies. We become receptive to Universal impulses, which also means that we can instantly connect with the energetic patterns of other people and things. In other words, the whole awareness of the Universe opens up to us.

When you operate from the limited mind, the boundless Universe is closed off from you. What you can access is only a very small portion closely guarded by your mind. Your mind thinks it is keeping you safe, but it is actually keeping you in suffering! The mind can never be assured of anything. Its nature is always to worry to keep you safe, and to search for new shiny objects and achievements.

Spiritual realization is not done through the mind. If you want to recognize these Universal truths and find eternal peace, then you must do it the mindless way or at least attempt to reduce the interference of the mind.

The first half of my spiritual journey was still very much run by the mind. However, each step I took dissolved a little bit of the mind until I was able to keep its interference to a minimum. Today, I have a new relationship with my mind. Instead of my mind running me by feeding me all sorts of negative thoughts, I run the mind. I choose when to think and when to stop thinking. I apply the mind in productive ways to my work and creative endeavors. When the mind is no longer necessary, I thank it for its service and disregard it completely. When you allow Universal intelligence to guide you, this divine guidance will blend things together in the most perfect way. This means showing you when to fall back on your conditioned mind, and when you should take a more Universal perspective.

I must have read or heard the spiritual saying that “all my needs are met” thousands of times. By then, I was becoming weary of it. If all my needs were truly met, then why was I still observing lack and limitation in certain areas of my life? It turns out that all lack in this world results from misperception or misguided beliefs. In other words, looking in the wrong places results in the perception of lack.
