Miles away in upstate New York, Bryan Summers was still in deep conversation with Flynn.

“So you have no idea who brought her back?”

“She never told me. But then again she had a habit of keeping things to herself.”

Flynn looked him over. “I see the jacket still fits.”

“Yeah. It’s a little tight but it does the job.”

“So why are you telling me this now, Bryan?”

He paused before continuing. “Because I want you to help me kill her.”

“Kill her? I don’t do that anymore.”

Bryan chuckled. “Are you serious? Am I talking to the right person?”

Out of all the witch hunters he had known over the years, Flynn was the one who had the largest number of kills. He didn’t bat an eye as to who they were. Young, old, they were all the same in his eyes. His only saving grace was the fact that he didn’t kill all witches, only those that were abusing their power and causing harm to those around them. That’s why he never killed Bryan’s daughters.

“I’m serious, Bryan. Things have changed. It’s been a long time since I wore that jacket or pursued a witch.”

“But you were good at it.”

“The best. But that was then. This is now. I have kids to think about.”

Brian studied his face. “Is that fear I see?”

“What are you on about?” Flynn got up and went over to the fireplace.

Bryan chuckled. “The great Flynn is afraid.”

“I’m not afraid of any witch. Let’s make that clear. But it’s not just my life that I have to think about now. It’s my children, and grandchildren. I could go with you, Bryan, and help but I would be a fool. The only reason I continued as a witch hunter was because I was single. I didn’t have others to think about. That’s all changed now.”

Bryan nodded and rose to his feet. “I understand.”

“Do you?”

“You should know me by now, Flynn.”

“I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry you had to come all this way.”

“It’s okay. I’ll do it myself.”
