Quinn
"Come home with me."
He has to repeat his words twice because I just blink at him. Yep, he just said exactly what I thought he said.
Though, Iâm shocked Bennet would consider inviting me to his place, let alone, say the words out loud while weâre here at school.
Iâm not sure what to do. Normally, Iâm certain about everything. But Iâm learning that where Bennett is involved, Iâm clueless.
His statement is quite bold. To me, it signals a point of no return, because once we cross this lineâknowinglyâit feels like thereâs no going back. If we acknowledge this⦠if we do this... thatâs it.
He must sense how lost Iâm feeling these days, because he steps up, though not literally, and takes control of the situation. When I donât respond, Bennett lifts his handsome dark brow at me. âQuinn.â
The way he says my name gives me butterflies.
âWhat about the rest of the day? Itâs ten in the morning, and I have class later. You have work.â Never in my life have I been quite so overwhelmed by logistics, but I feel this driving need to point out the obvious.
His lip curves into a small smirk. âLetâs blow it off. All of it. I think we have more pressing matters to discuss. Donât you?â
Well, he has me there. My whole future could quite possibly revolve around the two-and-a-half of us in this classroom, so I could probably stand to blow off one day of class.
âYes,â I finally speak, with a nod.
âOkay, then itâs settled. Meet me in the north parking lot. I have to run to my office to grab my keys. I think you already know what my car looks like.â He gives me a sexy smirk and begins packing up his briefcase. He pauses. âYou are going to meet me, right?â
Iâm suddenly extremely self conscious in my baggy old sweats. I felt like shit this morning after working early, and decided this was as good a day as any to treat myself to my comfy pants. Light nausea is starting to hit me at random times of the day. Ella tells me to just keep eating and never let my stomach get empty. Sure. Makes sense. But what does she think I am? A blue whale that just keeps its mouth open and eats all goddamn day? I donât have time for that.
âDo I have time to change?â
He barks out a laugh, a welcome sound after all the tension between us. âYou look perfect in what you have on. Give me a couple minutes to run by my office, and then get to the parking lot.â
His bossiness makes my stomach twist in anticipation.
He walks out of the classroom, leaving me alone. I take my time doing the same, and then I wander out into the halls and out of the building.
Iâve missed this man way more than Iâve ever missed anyone. And yet, I see his handsome face three times a week. Itâs not nearly enough in my opinion.
Maybe I blame the baby.
