TOOLS TO GATHER

• piece of watercolor paper.

• Selection of two watercolors. Although we are painting a watery scene with reflections, your pondscape can also be a dreamscape. Choose any two colors that appeal to you in this moment. I chose to be vibrant and used a beautiful blue and a deep gold: indigo and quinacridone gold, both by QoR Watercolors. See the Resources for more information.

• one metallic paint. I used a metallic gold watercolor.

• pencil or watercolor pencil. (Use a pencil for softer colors and a charcoal pencil for darker, more dramatic colors. I used charcoal pencil because my paints were so vibrant.)

• pinch of table salt.

• washi tape or blue painter’s tape, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide.

• small board or heavy cardboard.

• paintbrush.

• jar of clean water.

• soft rag or paper towel to wipe and dry the brush.
