I manage to keep my hands to myself on the way back to my room, but it’s not easy. Now that we’ve crossed the line, I just want to explore every inch of her. I get her to my room as quickly as I can, and soon the door is locked and I have her all to myself.

Her breath is coming faster than normal.

“Are you nervous?” I ask.

She shakes her head. “That’s not the first word I’d choose to describe how I’m feeling.”

“And what is the first word?”

She pauses for a moment. “Disbelieving?”

I take her hand. “Come sit on the couch with me.”

She nods and lets me direct her. God, she’s so pliant in my hands. I want to lay her down and make love to her right here, but I know that’s not what’s best for her. I sit down on the couch and pull her into my lap. As much as I’d like to have her straddling me, I have her sit sideways so I can hold her without her feeling obligated to take things faster than she’s ready to.

Cara drapes her arms around my neck, and it feels so natural to hold her like this. I’m not sure I’ll be able to ever let go of her again. It’s like there’s a piece of my life I didn’t even realize was missing until just this moment.

“What are we doing?” I ask as I gently caress her back.

“I’m not sure,” she says, meeting my gaze steadily. “But I don’t want to stop.”

I bury my hand in her hair and pull her down for a kiss. Her lips are so soft, and she’s so luscious as she parts her lips for my tongue. My tongue caresses hers and she moans softly into my mouth.

“I think we need some ground rules,” I say, breaking the kiss.

She looks down at me with a little pout, and I’m ready to give her almost anything she asks for. But if this is what I think it is—if this is the start of something much bigger—I don’t want to ruin it.

“What rules?” she asks.

“No sex tonight,” I tell her firmly. She opens her mouth to protest, and I say, “Non-negotiable. We’ve both had plenty to drink, and I don’t want our first time together to be like that.”

She closes her mouth and nods.

“Also, if you’re not busy, I’m hoping you’ll be my date for my friends’ wedding tomorrow.”

“Is that a rule?” she asks. She’s slightly breathless, as if she wouldn’t mind me telling her what to do.

I file that interesting fact away for later use.

“It’s a request,” I say gently. “Will you?”

“I have a spa morning with the girls, but I suspect I can sneak away for dinner,” she says. “What time are your friends getting married?”

“Four. So you will?”

She nods again.

“Good,” I say, pressing a kiss behind her ear. “Because I want to show you off, gorgeous girl.”

She squirms against me, her ass pressing into my cock, which immediately reacts.

“I know no sex tonight,” Cara says.
