Kyle spun the hammer around his head, trying to keep his focus on the far end of the field. He continued spinning around as he brought the hammer down.

Just as he was about to release the hammer, he heard Trevor shout.

“Look out, everyone, Kyle’s about to throw!” Trevor yelled.

It was enough to break Kyle’s focus, and his legs buckled. He let go of the hammer and fell to the ground. The hammer landed about five feet from the circle.

“Nice try,” Trevor shouted. Kyle heard some of the other guys laugh.

Kyle stood up and shook his head. “At least I’ve got the javelin,” he whispered. No matter what, he was going to beat Trevor at the javelin.
