KRIS

The smell is the first thing that hits me as my mouth starts to water. The next thing is the memory of the last time Henry made this for me. It was years ago now when I’d stayed over in his spare room after a night out. The next morning I’d wandered into the kitchen to see him dancing in his boxers while whisking. He was just as gorgeous then, though at the time his skin had been pale from the long British winter because he wasn’t travelling as much.

We’d sat at his small round table and eaten while catching up on what was happening with our families, laughing at what my sister had been up to at the time, and taking the piss out of each other. It had been a great morning. No, the best morning. It was my first visit after the one where I’d felt things change, on my end at least, and where I’d known that it was him, I wanted.

Henry’s grinning at me. In front of me is a short stack of French toast sharing the plate with a tiny jug of syrup and a ramakin of berries.

I decide that a bed picnic is the way to go, balancing the tray on my knees and unsurprisingly the food is phenomenal, so holding back an orgasmic moan is hard. Oh. My. God. Sooo good. Not too sweet, soft and light. He’s used brioche to make it and it’s at least as good as I remember, if not better. In fact, I’m enjoying it so much, it takes a few minutes to realise he’s watching me.

“Shall I leave you and that plate alone? Those sounds coming from you are … well … the least you can do is share. I know I made it, but I’d like a piece of that. The toast, not the orgasm. Though I wouldn’t say no to one of those.”

I try not to let my embarrassment show but I’m not sure how successful that is as I move the tray towards him. Shaking his head he says, “Just cut me a piece,” so I do.

Moving my fork towards his mouth, our eyes catch for a heartbeat as he opens his mouth, then he drops his gaze to the bed and chews. My eyes are drawn to his face and those lips; I can’t look away. Thankfully the spell is broken when he moves to a chair, and I have an uncomfortable feeling that I can’t quite name.
