THREE MONTHS LATER

“Hey babe, you almost ready to go?” I called River while I lounged on the couch in his apartment.

“Give me five more minutes!” he shouted back. We hadn’t been together that long, but I already new, five minutes was at least fifteen, if we were lucky.

It had been three months since that amazing day where we finally slept with each other again, and everything was finally settling down and starting to look up.

“Zoe is never going to let us live it down if we’re late!”

I could practically hear River’s eye roll. “Well if she wants to come here and find me a pair of fucking pants that fit, so I won’t be late, then she’s more than welcome.”

I bit back my chuckle, because it definitely would not be appreciated. Like I said, everything was starting to go well, except the fact that River was most definitely showing now. And he was having a hard time dealing with it. At just about six months along, River was actually measuring larger than his female counterparts, and the baby was too. Since everything was pretty much a guessing game with this pregnancy, the doctors were predicting the baby would come early. Whether the baby would be premature, or it was just that male Omegas had shorter pregnancies, well it was really anyone’s guess at this point.

Meanwhile, that meant that River could no longer hide that fact that he was carrying, and was now getting all kinds of looks. The media coverage had all but died down, and besides a few articles here and there online, and an occasional TV minister shouting at how unnatural he was and that he had to be carrying Satan’s child, River and I were essentially left alone.

I had gotten extremely lucky as far as the press was concerned. The first few days after my name was released was hectic, and I couldn’t even leave my apartment. But eventually they realized my life was boring as fuck and left me to it.

I got off the couch with a sigh, and made my way to River’s bedroom door. We were still living separately. It was the one thing we were having a hard time agreeing on when it came to our relationship.

We had decided that we were gonna get a house together before the baby was born. We decided to rent for now, and after a few years, if and when we knew this would be permanent, and not just us thrown together by the baby, then we would move. But, we still didn’t want the baby to grow up in an apartment, so we were in the process of trying to find a house in one of the burbs we could rent. We knew we wanted it commutable to both mine and River’s jobs, have a fenced in yard, and be in a safe neighborhood. And that was it for what we agreed on. Every house we had seen so far, and we’d seen a fuck ton, one of us had some kind of issue with it.
