Chapter 3

Communion

Whether you prescribe to an organization or you do not, our desires for community pervade our souls in ways which we only vaguely understand. We are drawn to each other. We survived throughout history as a group. We need each other for many things.

But why? Why should we look to each other for answers? Our ancient mothers and fathers felt this need deeply and took it upon themselves to band together for protection and safety. We too can find such peace and comfort from one another. But we must seek it.

Within a modern world which attempts to separate us we must work harder than ever before to connect with our brothers and sisters. But our peace and our happiness depend on it.

We can be sucked into a world of consuming and privation, but this is not what we are made for. We long to exist with others and although it is difficult it is important. Part of the reason it is important is the fact that it is difficult. Our need for permanence and motion are met within our communion with others.
