CHAPTER 29
Harlow
âIâM SO FUCKING sorry, man,â Saint says after Galen has given him the cliff notes version of my convo with Alisha. He didnât miss much, confirming he wasnât in such a deep sleep after all. We also explained what we saw going down in the ballroom. âFuck that bastard!â Saint slams his hands down on the steering wheel as aggression rolls off him in waves. The car swerves on the road, and itâs a good thing itâs empty this time of night.
âPull over, and let me drive.â I poke my head through the gap in the two front seats.
âIâm fucking driving.â Saint barks, rubbing the back of his neck.
âI wasnât fucking asking,â I snap. âPull the goddamn car over now.â
The brakes screech, and Iâm jolted forward as Saint slams on the brakes in the middle of the road. I donât know why Iâm surprised. He thinks he owns the fucking streets.
âJesus Christ. Was breaking my ribs not good enough?â Galen asks. âNow, you want to give me whiplash?â
âBlame the princess,â Saint growls, getting out of the driverâs side door.
I climb out from the back seat, walking up to him and prodding my finger in his chest. âListen, asshole. You donât have the monopoly on murderous rage. Weâre all fucking pissed, but getting us killed on this road tonight wonât serve any good purpose.â I jab my finger in his chest again. âAnd in case youâve forgotten, my dad died in a car crash, so shut your fucking face.â
Gripping my hips, he pulls me into his body and kisses the shit out of me.
Iâm smirking as I pull back. âIs this our thing now?â
âI donât know, baby.â He grabs handfuls of my ass. âIs it?â
I palm the bulge in his jeans. âYour body speaks for itself.â
His hands drift to my waist, as his expression turns serious. âYou fix shit with my cousin?â
âI did. We did.â
âThank fuck.â He presses a kiss to my forehead, and itâs a tender sweep of his lips, one that almost unravels me. I love Saintâs alpha possessiveness, but every so often he shows me a softer side, and I love it just as much. âHeâs going to need you now more than ever,â he murmurs, his lips lingering on my skin.
I tilt my head back so Iâm looking up at him. âWe all need each other.â I place my hands on his rock-hard chest. âJust when I think things canât get any more fucked up, they do.â
âWe need to keep the others focused and on track.â
I reach up and kiss him softly. âWe will. Now, get your sexy ass in the back seat, and tell us whatâs going down.â
_______________
âThatâs their clubhouse?â I ask, peeking around the corner to catch a glimpse.
âYou donât sound impressed.â Caz chuckles.
âIâm not. Itâs like some giant bloated silver box. I was expecting something grander, more like The Sainthoodâs training facility.â
The warehouse in front of us is rudimentary, at least from the outside. Itâs a big corrugated iron warehouse with a flat roof and a few token windows on both sides.
