CHAPTER 11

PIPPA

Dillon was every fantasy she’d ever had about being with a man. It wasn’t that she hadn’t been with other men, but somehow, she’d always felt like settling—either she was or the man who was with her was. It had never felt like equals—not once. This was different. They might be on different sides of the slash, but neither side held more power than the other. Oh, it might look that way from the outside, but Pippa was coming to understand that wasn’t true.

Even though Gretchen and Marty hadn’t told her about the notes, Pippa had known. She’d been on edge ever since she found them in Gretchen’s briefcase. She’d been looking for an allergy pill when she’d found one. Gretchen most likely had stuffed it into the outer pocket to keep Pippa from seeing it. It just so happened to be the pocket where she also kept acetaminophen, ibuprofen, antihistamines, et cetera. Once Pippa had read it, she hadn’t felt any guilt whatsoever about going into the main part of the briefcase where she found the folder containing the others.

As Dillon embraced her and she held onto him with all her might, she could feel the knot in her gut begin to untangle as the warmth of her core began to melt the icy walls behind which she’d always hidden her truest self. She brought her hands up to his face, resting them along the angular planes she found there and drew him to her, kissing him lightly on the mouth. He didn’t move at first and she worried that she had disgusted him, but as he drew her closer and she felt the hard line of his cock throbbing between them, she realized he was waiting.

Pippa began to explore the recesses of his mouth and his silky tongue as they tangled together. His hand skimmed down her spine, stroking the crevice between her butt cheeks before cupping her ass and lifting her up and into closer contact with his body. Suddenly all those clauses in the contract about sexual contact that she’d skimmed over were coming back all too clearly.

She knew she could stop him. One little word and it would all go away. She could remember the word but could summon no reason whatsoever that she would want to use it. She could hear bells in the distance and wondered if they were the warning bells she should heed. But she was pretty damn sure if she played it safe this time, she would regret it for the rest of her life.

“Let me take over, Pippa.”

“I don’t know how,” she admitted.

She could feel, more than see, the corners of his mouth lift in that sexy grin of his.

“Just say ‘please, Sir.’”

“Please, Sir,” she whispered and held her breath only for the fraction of a second it took him to take control.

His tongue surged in, pushing her back and establishing dominance in a way she hadn’t really understood. His hand tangled in her hair, and he angled her head the way he wanted so he could kiss her with ruthless intent.
