An hour away, Y sat down in the large chair, popcorn in a bowl in his lap, as he prepared to watch Ramsey’s final moments. He’d waited for this for some time, and now he prepared to enjoy it. Quieting his mind, he relaxed, connecting to the mirror in front of him and then reaching out further, looking for the connection to the man he now knew well. Happy that this would be his final time to search for Ramsey, he felt almost giddy knowing his plans were taking shape exactly as he’d wanted. Pushing outward, he expected to easily reach his destination. Opening his eyes, he was surprised to see only a milky-white film across the mirror in front of him. Knitting his brow, he reached out again, wondering why the connection eluded him. Searching, he tracked the path and suddenly understood the problem. His conduit had been blocked. They had covered the mirror. She had figured it out.

Y stood, spilling his popcorn. Sarah had prevented his entry, and worse, if she’d followed the trail, she may have saved Ramsey’s life.

His face passive but his anger fueled, he walked up to the mirror in front of him and punched it, shattering it into pieces.
