With German punctuality, Angela greeted the Baldie team in the lobby at 1 p.m.

“Chairman von Boltz sends his warm greetings for successful discussions. I will not be with you during the meeting, as I will be arranging a special dinner at the museum in your honor tonight.”

“We’re rested and ready for today’s events. Thank you!” Matt said.

Twenty minutes later, the Baldie team was escorted up to the rarified air of the inner sanctum of the fourth floor. Though the building was 16 stories tall, the chairman felt that was too far away from his roots, the factory floor.

Matt carried the satchel into the conference room, which was now crowded with support staff. The Baldie team took its place at the table across from their newfound friends from Vance, Alabama. About two minutes later, the chairman took his seat at the end of the table and said, “Mr. Flynn, this is a huge organization. We build many things. But right now you have our undivided attention. Incredibly, there is an executive jet on our lawn. This is rather a unique way to visit someone. Why are you here? What is your proposal?”

“Dr. von Boltz,” Matt began in a clear and powerful voice, “my mission is to combine the best of American ingenuity with the best German production technologies to change the way people move on this planet. You see, I have a dream, and I’m here to ask your help in fulfilling it.”

The chairman nodded his approval.

“Thank you, sir, for this forum. We will try not to disappoint you and your staff,” Matt said as he took a Red Box out of his satchel and placed it on the table in front of the chairman. “Thanks to my brother, Murray, we are here today. He has invented a small device with big consequences. It turns anything into something that wants to escape gravity and leave this planet. The patents confirm its technology, and the jet on your back lawn confirms its application.”

“Herr Chairman,” Matt continued, “I have driven Mercedes vehicles for over 30 years. I believe in your design, engineering and production methodologies that ensure a quality vehicle.

“Because I’m a believer, I only need 10 minutes to state my case. Here are 10 folders which summarize what I am about to propose. I’m not a cocky American who flaunts his technology and independence. On the contrary, I come to you in partnership to jointly apply my brother’s genius on behalf of mankind.

“Your people have undoubtedly digested the data from our test fights in Alabama. Any problems?”

“No,” Chairman von Boltz responded.

“Good.”

Matt went over to the Red Box and patted it. “The jet down there is there because of this. Is that clear?”

“Yes,” the chairman replied.

The Baldie team was ready for Matt’s 10 minutes of fame. He continued, “You produce cars, trucks, and buses all over this planet. Why not the Baldie?”

The Mercedes-Benz team nodded in agreement.

“We came to you first for your expertise in all departments,” Matt said. “We feel Vance, Alabama,
