Love,

Luna

PS: Send Callan back with an update when you can.

I reread the letter several times while I ate the hot panini with roast beef. I noticed Felicia was watching me as I devoured the last of the sandwich. “Do you want some of the fries?” I asked, wondering if I really was willing to give them up.

Felicia shook her head. “I’ve never seen anyone inhale food like you just did.”

“Sorry,” I said, grasping a fist full of fries and stuffing them in my mouth. “It’s the calorie deficit from casting.”

“I guess.” She sighed. “But we’re going to have to figure out how to cook food here if we’re staying here for any length of time.”

I opened a canteen and guzzled water. I then found another water bottle and tossed it to Felicia. “That will help keep you from getting sick.”

“What about you? You drank that water.”

I shrugged. “I can heal from almost anything. But there are spells to get rid of the nasty shit.”

“Good to know.”

I looked at Callan. “You can transport my friends here, you know,” I remarked.

Callan shook his head. I can transport people on Earth and in Solomon’s Temple. Here, I can barely transport myself back home. It took a lot to bring your pack. It would be better to have Smog bring them.

Smog is a powerful dragon, but I doubt he could carry so many. I switched to packspeak and narrowed the conversation to just Callan and me, so not to insult Smog. While Smog was a friend, he was still a dragon. And dragons have extraordinary egos. “I don’t think Smog would want to waste our time here.” I spoke aloud.

The pretty werewolf would be awesome, but we have work to do. Smog preened himself. But at the moment, I’m going to have to go hunt and rest.

“Won’t the Dragon Hunters be looking for you?” I asked.

“He’s not going out there again, is he?” Felicia put her hand on her hips. “We barely survived…”

Fifi nudged her. I will be hunting squamoss with Smog. As will Firewing. The hunters don’t dare take on a dragon pack.

I nodded. “Good hunting.”

With that, the dragons turned and left the cave, leaving me alone with a seiðkonur and an Alaskan Malamute. I sighed. No one could say my life was boring.
