One of the more industrious patients at Willard, Fred Towner, kept a diary in which he recorded his daily activities for at least five consecutive months in 1926. Towner did all manner of things to keep himself busy and to earn some money. He also had a considerable amount of freedom, riding the train to various stations around Seneca Lake, picking up newspapers, telegrams, and merchandise, and delivering them for a fee to a fair number of customers. Most of his days were similar:TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 1926
