Of what a beetle’s

Eye can see

When lamps are lit

And the bats flit

A beetle’s nose

Detects the perfume

Of the rose

As gardens fade

And stars invade

The Albatross and the Equator

“Albatross, Albatross, why do you fly

Under my blue equatorial sky?

Albatross, Albatross, why do you roam

So far from your icy delectable home?”

“Capricorn warned me to turn to the right,

But I strayed from my course in the dead of the night;

And the stars of the tropics, so many and new,

Led me by long ways and weary to you.”
